Our Commitment to St Albert Metis District
Sturgeon River Utilities is a 100% Métis community-owned energy marketer focused on providing competitively priced electricity and natural gas services across Alberta. Established by the St. Albert–Sturgeon County Métis Local, now known as St. Albert Métis District, our operations are deeply rooted in community values. Every decision we make is shaped by meaningful consultation with our members, emphasizing the importance of the Métis community and guided by a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, economic inclusion, and long-term community resilience.
Our Team
Our team is a dedicated board of volunteers who serve both Sturgeon River Utilities and Great Blue Heron, a wholly owned entity of the St. Albert Métis District (formerly known as the St. Albert–Sturgeon County Métis Local). Their efforts are guided by an Investment Charter, developed through meaningful consultation with the St. Albert–Sturgeon County Métis community. This charter reflects the community’s voice, values, and vision. Ensuring that all decisions and initiatives surrounding electricity and economic development are rooted in local Métis priorities and long-term benefits.
