Sturgeon River Utilities is a 100% Métis community-owned energy marketer dedicated to providing competitively priced electricity and natural gas services across Alberta. Founded by the St. Albert–Sturgeon County Métis Local—now recognized as St. Albert Métis District 11—our operations are rooted in community values. Every decision we make is shaped by meaningful consultation with our members and guided by a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, economic inclusion, and long-term community resilience.
Our Team
Our team is a dedicated working board of volunteers who serve both Sturgeon River Utilities and Great Blue Heron, a wholly owned and operated entity of the St. Albert Métis District 11 (formerly the St. Albert–Sturgeon County Métis Local).
Their efforts are guided by an Investment Charter, developed through meaningful consultation with the St. Albert–Sturgeon County Métis Local community. This charter reflects the community’s voice, values, and vision—ensuring that all decisions and initiatives are rooted in local priorities and long-term benefit.
